Fishing conditions have been, in a word, WINDY! We have experienced a number of wind and rain events the past two weeks that have made it difficult to get out on the water.

The time for fishing winter Chinook is now. There are good numbers of feeder Chinook at the Cape Mudge light and also at the Hump. The weather usually settles down a bit toward the end of November and we can then look forward to some great winter fishing.

lake fishing has been very good. the wind has been a hindrance for those who fish from boats but shore fishers have been doing well iin most lakes. Cutthroat trout tend congregate at creekmouths this time of year in advance of their spawning run. Spoons and spinners are quite effective tackle choices, especially if the water is slightly off-colour. As always, the old reliables, earthworms and roe will usually produce results.

Winter Steelhead should be entering the Quinsam and Campbell rivers anytime now. The Nimpkish also has an early run. Steelhead numbers have been on the increase in our area the past few years, sparking renewed interest in these amazing fish.
